The residents at Eden Park dressed up in style on Melbourne Cup Day.
Our residents wanted to make a horse for the spring racing by upcycling materials we had around the home.
They collected old plastic gardening pots, ribbon, flowers and also some hay. They also asked staff and visitors for donations.
Once they had all their supplies, the worked together on a plan, had a drawing and then built their masterpiece.
They spent a few weeks, just to make sure it was sturdy and could last the ‘race’.
It was a massive team effort from residents, staff and also our painter!
In the lead up to Melbourne cup, residents also built a miniature “Michelle Payne’. She looked right at place.
During our Melbourne cup celebrations, residents enjoyed strawberries and champagne, a punt on the horses and also posing for photos with their masterpiece.
